I agree with the other guy, but if the bow and bowgun are out of the question as you seem to be a melee guy I would invest in a good ol' gunlance. Its special traingle circle move (I think its called wyverns breath) does serious damage and being in the lance family has some natural piercing which helps it not bounce off. If thats not your taste you can try dual blades, by using demon dance not only do you do more damage but your weapons will not bounce off the monster. Try bringing along some barrel bombs and shock traps which always work well together. And as the other guy said make sure to go for the chest. A hammer might be a good idea too, it'll smash that chest plate open easily, especially with superpound.
