Help! I accidently deleted my OS on Mac. Along with all my dads contacts and photos?

My dad gave me his macbook however i accidently deleted the OS and am reinstalling right now. Along with the OS, I delted my dads contacts and photos. he has an ipad that has all of that. What do i say? :\
