Some help linux mint 10 julia?

ok i just got my new internet connection installed at home and my laptop with linux mint 10 wont work right with the connection. i have time warners extreme connection with a motorola surfboard modem. what i mean by not working right is that it connects to the internet and i can load up 1 page and the i get an error page saying the page isnt avaliable. i dont know if its a driver problem or an os problem. if yoou need more info ask. my moms laptop with ubuntu 10.04 is runnung good and my sisters netbook with windows 7 is running good to its only my laptop. so the modem is good. i have a samsung rv511 ao1 laptop with linux mint 10
